Dr. Tuca is specialist in Medical Oncology and PhD from Barcelona University. His professional trajectory has been primarily focused on the supportive care in cancer. He was co-editor of two books on supportive care in cancer, author of several book chapters and of more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
He has worked in the Health Consortium of Terrassa, and in the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Barcelona. In both hospitals he was coordinator of Palliative Care Unit and of Consultation Team of Supportive Care in Cancer. He was member of Research Ethics Committee of Health Consortium of Terrassa until 1996 and of Ethics Committee of University Hospital of Bellvitge until 2010. Currently, is full member of Ethics Committee of Clinic Hospital of Barcelona. He was board member of Palliative Care Association of Catalonia and Baleares Islands, and member of research group of European Association for Palliative Care. He was president of the Scientific Committee of the Congress of the Spanish Association of Palliative Care in 2006.
He received the Award of Excellence in the College of Physicians of Barcelona in 2006. He was co-director of the Master of Palliative Care at the University of Barcelona. He is board member and president of Scientific Committee of Oncolliga (Catalonian Association of fight against cancer). Currently, his position is medical consultant, coordinator of the Supportive and Palliative Care Unit of the Institute of Hematologic and Oncologic Diseases of Clinic Hospital of Barcelona (Barcelona University).
