Dr. Marti Manyalich i Vidal is Specialist in Anesthesiology and Reanimation from the University of Barcelona with many years of experience as a Transplant Procurement Management. Dr. Manyalich created the first team of Reanimation in Catalunya and developed the system of Medical Emergencies in the city. Dr. Manyalich created the Hospital Transplant Coordination Model in the hospital Clinic of Barcelona which was the base for the current Spanish Model to Organ donation and Transplantation. Currently he is the assessor on transplantation of the Medical Direction of the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona and the General Director of the Donation and Transplantation Institute (DTI) from Barcelona.
Dr. Manyalich has 27 years of experiences in the field of organ, tissue and cells donation for transplant. His main contributions has been investigating and implementing tools and systems to optimize the obtainment of organs and tissues for transplant.
Other line where Dr. Manyalich has been contributing is training of the health care professionals in organ and tissues deceased donation. Dr. Manyalich created the international program in transplant procurement management training through which helps to improve the quality, effectiveness and availability of organs and tissues for transplantation in Catalunya and worldwide (Transplantation, 88;(7S):146-149, October 15,2009). On the other hand Dr. Manyalich has been developing research project regarding living donation mainly the aspects related with safety of the donor in bio-psico-social sides.
